Phil Murphy on Emerging Industries During 2024 State of State Address

Governor Phil Murphy discusses emerging industries in New Jersey during the 2024 State of the State Address.

Wakefern Food Corp., the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States, announced that its supermarkets will host job fairs on July 27, offering career opportunities and valuable experience in the retail industry.

The walk-up job fairs will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at stores in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland. Interested candidates can visit most participating ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage or Fairway Market stores to meet with recruiting representatives for direct interviews.

Job seekers can check online to see if their local store is participating (Wakefern published a list of stores that are not participating).

Depending on location, full-time, part-time and management positions are available.

Available positions include general, perishable, front-end and warehouse clerks. These positions offer flexible hours and extensive cross-training to equip employees with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to work as a team in the store. Training programs, including a game-based training app, provide a solid foundation for individuals to achieve their best and pursue career goals. Each position offers opportunities for career growth and is integral to the operation of the Wakefern cooperative and its retail banners and stores.

Many of the family-owned grocery stores also offer their employees entertainment and tuition discounts, along with scholarships. Wakefern, with a 78-year history of dedication to communities and family businesses, continues to support its cooperative members through these initiatives.

For more information, applicants are encouraged to visit their local participating stores on July 27.
