SoFi Center to Rise for Tiger Woods’ Interactive Golf Competition

The 1,500-seat SoFi Center will house the TGL interactive golf league, founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The league is expected to kick off in January.

PALM BEACH GARDENS – The indoor golf arena rising on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens now towers approximately 75 feet (23 meters) above nearby homes, neighborhood buildings, passing delivery trucks and neighboring trees.

Crews have finished building the foundations of the SoFi Center. And the steel, walls and roof panels are on site. Roofing work began this month, and crews are working six days a week, 10 hours a day, according to a spokesman for TGL, the interactive golf league that will call the center home. The league is led by golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, both of whom have homes in the area.

The structure is the second iteration of the arena, once conceived as an inflatable dome. Those original plans were scrapped when stormy weather and a power outage left the nascent dome in ruins. Construction on the steel and concrete arena began March 18, with the exterior expected to be finished in early August, the spokesman said.

The building’s base, eight white pillars covered on three sides with metal slats, rises high above the densely populated landscape of RCA Boulevard and PBSC’s northern campus.

About 10 large cranes, dozens of crew members and a few guards surround the pine-lined site.

Once the exterior is complete, a crew will install the technology, including a 46-by-64-foot Jumbotron-like screen, in time for a mid-fall rehearsal. The first game will air on ESPN on Jan. 7, 2025, during prime time, the spokesman said.
