Earlier, two Indian Army soldiers were injured in an encounter with terrorists in Kastigarh area of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. The initial treatment was given at the government hospital in Doda and now they are being shifted to the army hospital by helicopter.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ramban-Doda Range, Shridhar Patil, reached the encounter spot at Kashtigarh in Doda. “A search operation is underway. I cannot share much information as our operation is still underway and we will be successful soon,” DIG Shridhar Patil told reporters.
The clash comes days after four soldiers, including an officer, laid down their lives while fighting terrorists in the Doda encounter on Tuesday. On July 15, based on specific intelligence, a joint operation was underway by the Indian Army and the JK Police in an area north of Doda.
According to White Knight Corps, around 9 pm contact was made with terrorists, after which a heavy gunfight ensued. Four soldiers, including an officer, were killed. The soldiers who were killed have been identified as Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra and Sepoy Ajay.
On July 16, Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, Commander, Northern Army, laid a wreath in honour of the brave Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra and Sepoy Ajay Kumar Singh, who laid down their lives in the line of duty to ensure peace in the region, while conducting an anti-terrorist operation in Doda.
In recent months, there has been a spike in terrorist attacks in the Jammu region, including the terrorist attack on the army convoy in Kathua and clashes in Doda and Udhampur.
