The Switch is still popular (Nintendo)
If you’re one of the few who hasn’t bought a Nintendo Switch yet, you can get a console for free through Virgin Media.
Seven years after its launch in 2017, the Nintendo Switch is still going strong and has already been cemented as one of the best-selling consoles of all time.
Even with Nintendo’s next console on the horizon, the system’s strong lineup shows no signs of slowing down, with The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree and Mario + Luigi: Brothership all scheduled for release in 2024.
If you don’t have a console yet, Virgin Media is giving one away for free to new customers who sign up to certain bundles with an 18-month contract.
The cheapest package costs £59.99 per month. This gives you access to 204 TV channels, including several sports channels, and M350 fibre broadband.
If you prefer movies to sport, there is another package for £60.99, albeit with M125 fibre broadband, which has slower average download speeds (132Mbps instead of 362Mbps). For Sky Sports, Sky Cinema and M350 broadband, there is a bundle that costs £64.99 per month.
The most expensive option costs £84.99 per month and offers over 230 channels, a Netflix subscription, Gig 1 fibre broadband with speeds of 1,130Mbps, along with an unlimited O2 mobile SIM and the choice of a Disney+, Amazon Prime and other plans.
Anyone who signs up for one of these bundles on an 18-month contract will receive a Nintendo Switch (the standard model, not the OLED) or £150 in bill credit. With the Switch costing £259.99, you might be better off making the leap to the console.
However, you don’t have long to take advantage of this offer, as the offer starts today (July 29) and lasts for one week only, until Monday, August 5.
Over the past seven years, the Switch has built up an impressive library, including Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, its sequel Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 3, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Odyssey, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Bayonetta 3, and many more.
