The snow has crippled transportation, with O’Hare International Airport closed and all flights canceled. The snow has also caused widespread power outages, with more than 300,000 homes and businesses without power. ComEd, the local utility company, is working to restore power but warns that it may take several days. Mayor Lori Lightfoot has declared a snow emergency and urged residents to stay home. The city has deployed additional snowplows and emergency personnel to clear roads and respond to emergencies. The blizzard has caused widespread disruption to daily life in Chicago. Schools and businesses are closed, and residents are advised to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. The city is expected to remain under a blizzard warning through much of Tuesday, with additional snowfall and high winds. Residents are urged to stay informed and follow all safety precautions.
