Baton Rouge Buzz: Mayor Unveils Plan for City-Wide Dog Park ExtravaganzaBaton Rouge Buzz: Mayor Unveils Plan for City-Wide Dog Park Extravaganza Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Baton Rouge into a dog-friendly paradise with the launch of the “City-Wide Dog Park Extravaganza.” The initiative aims to create a network of world-class dog parks across all nine city districts, giving furry friends and their owners a place to socialize, exercise, and make memories. ” our four-legged companions deserve a place where they can run, play, and interact with other dogs,” said Mayor Broome. “This city-wide investment will enhance our community’s quality of life and strengthen the bond between humans and their beloved pets.” The extravaganza will feature: * New dog parks: Five new dog parks will be built in underserved areas, providing access to recreational facilities for all canine citizens. * Upgrades to existing parks: Existing dog parks will receive significant improvements, including expanded play areas, agility equipment, and shade structures. * Community events: Regular community events, such as dog-friendly movie nights and adoption fairs, will foster a sense of unity among dog lovers citywide. * Dog park ambassadors: A corps of volunteer ambassadors will be trained to promote responsible dog ownership and ensure the parks are safe and welcoming for all. The project is expected to cost approximately $10 million and will be funded through a combination of city funds and private partnerships. “We are grateful for the generous support of our partners who share our vision of making Baton Rouge a dog-loving community,” said Director of Park and Recreation Parks Department, Jofi Kaff.
