Atlanta City Council Approves New Dog Park in MidtownAtlanta City Council Approves New Dog Park in Midtown Atlanta’s Midtown neighborhood is set to welcome a new canine paradise as the City Council unanimously approved the construction of a new dog park at 11th Street Park. The 0.8-acre park will provide a dedicated space for dogs to socialize, run, and play off-leash. “This new dog park will be a wonderful addition to Midtown and will provide a much-needed space for our furry friends,” said City Councilmember Jennifer Ide, who introduced the resolution. “It’s important for us to offer safe and accessible recreation areas for all members of our community, including our canine companions.” The park will feature separate areas for large and small dogs, as well as amenities such as drinking fountains, agility equipment, and waste disposal stations. The park will also be fully fenced and illuminated for evening use. The new dog park is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to improve green spaces and provide recreational opportunities in Atlanta. The city recently completed renovations to the Ansley Park Dog Park and is planning to upgrade the dog park at Grant Park in the coming months. “We know that dogs are an important part of many families, and we want to make sure they have a place to enjoy the outdoors and socialize with other dogs,” said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. “This new dog park will be a great addition to Midtown and will help make Atlanta a more pet-friendly city.” Construction on the new dog park is expected to begin in early 2023 and is scheduled to be completed by summer 2024. The park will be open to the public free of charge.
