For the fifth consecutive year, local artists and community members have contributed uniquely crafted ornaments to the library’s “Unornaments” display. This year’s collection boasts a kaleidoscope of creations, each more whimsical and unconventional than the last. Among the highlights are: * A life-sized snow globe filled with tiny stuffed animals and twinkling lights. * A Christmas tree made entirely of recycled cardboard and decorated with bows fashioned from old library cards. * A wreath adorned with vintage Santa Claus cookie cutters and gingerbread men. * A freestanding snowman crafted from empty water bottles, painted white and sporting a top hat made from a discarded book. The ornaments are not only visually stunning but also carry stories and meanings that reflect the Fresno community. One artist created origami cranes to symbolize hope and peace during these uncertain times. Another used sustainable materials such as repurposed paper and fabric to promote environmental awareness. The library’s “Unornaments” display has become an annual tradition, attracting visitors of all ages. It serves as a reminder that the holidays are a time for celebration, creativity, and the sharing of unique perspectives. “We’ve been thrilled to see the outpouring of support from our community for this project,” said Library Director Broderick Johnson. “The ‘Unornaments’ not only brighten our space but also inspire our visitors and foster a sense of connection.” The “Unornaments” display will be on view at the Fresno Public Library throughout the holiday season. Visitors are encouraged to come and admire the unusual creations and experience the festive spirit that fills the library during this special time of year.
