UND Football Bolsters 2025 Recruiting Class with Five Verbal Commitments Grand Forks, N.D. – The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks football program has added five verbal commitments to its 2025 recruiting class, head coach Bubba Schweigert announced today. The commitments include: * Tanner Helgeson, linebacker, Moorhead High School (Moorhead, Minn.) * Ben Turner, defensive end, Centennial High School (Circle Pines, Minn.) * Hayden Owens, tight end, Castle View High School (Castle Rock, Colo.) * Isaac Cox, offensive lineman, Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School (Sioux Falls, S.D.) * Logan Schrum, defensive back, Minooka Community High School (Minooka, Ill.) “We’re excited to welcome these talented young men to our Fighting Hawks family,” said Schweigert. “They each possess the athleticism, character, and work ethic that will make them valuable contributors to our program.” Helgeson is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker who earned all-state honors in Minnesota Class 5A as a junior. He recorded 115 tackles, including 15 for loss, and forced four fumbles. Turner is a 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive end who helped Centennial to the Minnesota Class 6A state championship in 2022. He notched 52 tackles and 10 sacks as a junior. Owens is a 6-foot-6, 220-pound tight end who caught 35 passes for 549 yards and 10 touchdowns in his junior season at Castle View. He is considered one of the top tight ends in the nation for the 2025 class. Cox is a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman who was named to the South Dakota Class 11AAA all-state team as a junior. He helped Sioux Falls Roosevelt to a state runner-up finish. Schrum is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back who intercepted four passes and forced two fumbles as a junior at Minooka. He was named to the all-conference team in Illinois Class 8A. These five commitments join three other players who previously committed to UND’s 2025 recruiting class: running back Talon Scott (Valders, Wis.), offensive lineman Tucker Osmond (Bismarck, N.D.), and linebacker Wyatt Herbst (Aberdeen, S.D.). “This is a strong start to our 2025 recruiting class,” said Schweigert. “We’re confident that these young men will help us build on the success we’ve had in recent years.”UND Football Adds Five More Commits to 2025 ClassUND Football Adds Five More Commits to 2025 Class GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The UND football program’s first prospect camp of the summer has yielded five more verbal commitments to the 2025 recruiting class. UND added three defensive players, as well as two wide receivers. Defensive back Ethan Cole of Chatfield (Minn.), inside linebacker Frank McAninch of Mankato West and cornerback Grant Tylutki of ROCORI (Minn.) were the defensive commits. On offense, UND added 6-foot-4 Osakis (Minn.) wide receiver Seth Staloch and 6-1 Kansas native Carter Pabst. The five new additions join UND’s first three 2025 commitments: Tight end Karter Peterson of Thompson, defensive back Isaiah Wright of Fertile-Beltrami and running back Charles Langama of Maple Grove. Cole had a preferred offer from Iowa State. McAninch is 6-0, 220 pounds. As a junior, he had 93 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and was his district’s defensive player of the year. Tylutki is 5-9, 190 pounds. He had 133 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and one interception as a junior. On offense, Tylutki had 47 catches for 678 yards and four touchdowns. Pabst, also a standout baseball player, had a school-record 887 yards rushing and a school-record 19 touchdowns as a junior at Goddard Eisenhower. He was named first-team all-state by the Wichita Eagle. Staloch, who also had an offer from South Dakota, was an all-Section 6AA selection. Osakis lost to Barnesville in the 2023 Class AA quarterfinals. Staloch had a touchdown catch in the game. Langama, who is 5-10 and 190 pounds, ran for 1,425 yards and 26 total touchdowns as a junior. Minnesota Prep Redzone ranks Langama as the No. 2 running back in Minnesota’s 2025 recruiting class. UND’s second prospect camp of the summer is July 16. The program will also host a team camp from June 24 to 26. The Fighting Hawks open the 2024 season at Iowa State at 2:30 PM on Saturday, August 31. The match will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1. The five players are: * Jake Agucha, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end from Duluth, Minnesota. * Aydan Lindquist, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker from Grand Forks, North Dakota. * Jackson Mullaney, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound tight end from Bismarck, North Dakota. * John O’Neill, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound defensive end from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. * Carter Van Gorkom, a 6-foot-3, 320-pound offensive lineman from Aberdeen, South Dakota. “We are very excited about this group of young men,” Schweigert said. “They are all talented players who have the potential to be great players at the Division I level.” Agucha is a three-star recruit who was named to the Minnesota All-State team as a junior. Lindquist is a two-star recruit who was named to the North Dakota All-State team as a junior. Mullaney is a three-star recruit who was named to the North Dakota All-State team as a junior. O’Neill is a three-star recruit who was named to the South Dakota All-State team as a junior. Van Gorkom is a three-star recruit who was named to the South Dakota All-State team as a junior. The five players join a 2025 recruiting class that already includes three verbal commitments. The class is ranked as the No. 1 recruiting class in the Missouri Valley Football Conference and the No. 2 recruiting class in the FCS. “We are building something special here at UND,” Schweigert said. “These young men are going to be a big part of our success in the future.”
