UND Football Adds Five Verbal Commitments to 2025 Recruiting Class Grand Forks, N.D. – The University of North Dakota football program has received five verbal commitments from high school prospects for its 2025 recruiting class. The incoming recruits include: * Ethan Egge, Quarterback, Mandan (N.D.) High School * Carter Scheels, Offensive Tackle, Fargo (N.D.) South High School * Kole Buettner, Defensive End, Medina (Minn.) High School * Jaden Kvilvang, Linebacker, Bismarck (N.D.) High School * Mason Saarela, Wide Receiver, Willmar (Minn.) High School Ethan Egge is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback who threw for 1,822 yards and 20 touchdowns in his junior season at Mandan High School. He is considered one of the top quarterback prospects in North Dakota. Carter Scheels is a 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle who helped Fargo South High School finish 8-2 and advance to the Class 3A state quarterfinals in 2022. He is a talented blocker with good size and athleticism. Kole Buettner is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound defensive end who recorded 50 tackles, including 10 sacks, in his junior season at Medina High School. He is a strong and physical player with a high motor. Jaden Kvilvang is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker who made 106 tackles, including 15 for loss, in his junior season at Bismarck High School. He is an instinctive and aggressive player who can make plays all over the field. Mason Saarela is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver who caught 40 passes for 600 yards and eight touchdowns in his junior season at Willmar High School. He is a speedy and elusive receiver with good hands. “We are excited to announce these five outstanding young men to our 2025 recruiting class,” said UND head coach Bubba Schweigert. “They are all talented athletes, but more importantly, they are high-character individuals who will be great additions to our program on and off the field.” The UND football team is coming off a 7-5 season in 2022, its first winning record since 2016. UND added three defensive players, as well as two wide receivers. Defensive back Ethan Cole of Chatfield (Minn.), inside linebacker Frank McAninch of Mankato West, and cornerback Grant Tylutki of ROCORI (Minn.) were the defensive commits. On offense, UND added 6-foot-4 Osakis (Minn.) wide receiver Seth Staloch and 6-1 Kansas native Carter Pabst. The five new additions join UND’s first three 2025 commitments: Tight end Karter Peterson of Thompson, defensive back Isaiah Wright of Fertile-Beltrami, and running back Charles Langama of Maple Grove. Cole had a preferred offer from Iowa State. McAninch is 6-0, 220 pounds. As a junior, he had 93 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and was his district’s defensive player of the year. Tylutki is 5-9, 190 pounds. He had 133 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and one interception as a junior. On offense, Tylutki had 47 catches for 678 yards and four touchdowns. Pabst, also a standout baseball player, had a school-record 887 yards rushing and a school-record 19 touchdowns as a junior at Goddard Eisenhower. He was named first-team all-state by the Wichita Eagle. Staloch, who also had an offer from South Dakota, was an all-Section 6AA selection. Osakis lost to Barnesville in the 2023 Class AA quarterfinals. Staloch had a touchdown catch in the game. Langama, who is 5-10 and 190 pounds, ran for 1,425 yards and 26 total touchdowns as a junior. Minnesota Prep Redzone ranks Langama as the No. 2 running back in Minnesota’s 2025 recruiting class. UND’s second prospect camp of the summer is July 16. The program will also host a team camp from June 24 to 26. The Fighting Hawks open the 2024 season at Iowa State at 2:30 PM on Saturday, August 31. The match will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1. Schweigert said he was excited about the addition of these five players to the UND football program. “These are all high-character young men who are committed to excellence both on and off the field,” Schweigert said. “They are all talented athletes who will be great additions to our team.” Bishop is a three-star quarterback who passed for over 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior at Andover High School. He is also a talented runner, rushing for over 500 yards and 10 touchdowns. Roth is a three-star running back who rushed for over 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior at Prior Lake High School. He is a shifty and elusive runner who is difficult to tackle. Cobb is a three-star wide receiver who caught over 40 passes for 600 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior at Lakeville South High School. He is a big, physical receiver who is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Elliott is a three-star offensive lineman who is one of the top recruits in the state of North Dakota. He is a powerful and athletic blocker who will be a key piece of the UND offensive line for years to come. Singh is a three-star defensive lineman who is a disruptive force on the field. He had over 50 tackles, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles as a junior at Wayzata High School. The UND football program is coming off a 7-5 season in 2023, and Schweigert is confident that these five recruits will help the team take the next step in 2025. “We are building something special here at UND,” Schweigert said. “These five recruits are a big part of that, and I can’t wait to see what they can accomplish in a Fighting Hawks uniform.”
