The 5,000-square-foot Diana Ross Wing will be a state-of-the-art facility that will showcase Ross’s remarkable career and impact on the world of music. The wing will feature immersive exhibits, rare artifacts, and personal memorabilia that will provide visitors with an intimate glimpse into the life and legacy of the iconic singer. “Diana Ross is a true icon whose influence transcends generations,” said Robin Terry, chair of the Motown Museum board of directors. “This new wing will allow us to celebrate her incredible journey and inspire future generations.” The expansion project will also include a new education center, a research library, and a multi-purpose event space. The education center will offer a range of programs for students of all ages, focusing on music, history, and the arts. The research library will preserve and provide access to Motown’s vast collection of music and archival materials. The new wing is expected to open in 2024, coinciding with the Motown Museum’s 60th anniversary. It will be located adjacent to the museum’s existing Historic Studio A, where countless Motown hits were recorded. “I am honored that the Motown Museum will be recognizing my career with this special wing,” said Diana Ross. “It’s a testament to the power of music and the enduring legacy of Motown.” The expansion project has been made possible through a combination of private donations and public funding. The Motown Museum has launched a capital campaign to raise $50 million for the project. “We are thrilled to be expanding the Motown Museum and dedicating a wing to Diana Ross,” said Suzan E. Campbell, curator and executive director of the Motown Museum. “This project will ensure that her story and the legacy of Motown continue to inspire and entertain people around the world.”
