One person suffered second-degree burns to the left side of their body and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. Video footage captured by a 12 News crew showed multiple police officers and firefighters at the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — One person is in the hospital after a fire broke out in an apartment building on Tobey Street in Providence Sunday afternoon.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Robert Butler, the fire raged on the fifth floor of the building.
The injured person suffered second-degree burns to the left side of his body and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, Butler said.
Butler said the fire was largely contained by the sprinkler system.
Video footage from a 12 News crew on the scene showed multiple Providence police officers and firefighters present.
The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
