Emma Raducanu will be hoping to continue her promising form on grass ahead of Wimbledon next week when she takes on sixth-seeded Daria Kasatkina in the quarter-finals at Eastbourne International this afternoon.
Raducanu claimed her first-ever victory over a top-10 player when she defeated Jessica Pegula in the second round on Wednesday, saving a match point to win 4-6 7-6 7-5 in nearly three hours in scorching conditions.
World number 5 Pegula suffered a stunning first-round win over former US Open champion Sloane Stephens, winning in three sets (6-4, 6-0).
And the 21-year-old wildcard was pleased to have come through such a tough encounter on the grass, saying: “It’s incredibly difficult when you’re playing against someone in the form of Jessica. But I’m really happy with how I’ve managed to navigate some really difficult situations and I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to get myself out of them, so I’d say this match is one of the most meaningful for me. I think I’ve been through some things and it’s really nice to get through it.”
