According to the Department of Transportation (DoTr), higher service charges at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) are expected to go into effect by the end of 2024.

Transport Minister Jaime Bautista confirmed that landing and takeoff fees may be increased this year, while passenger service fares will increase from 2025.

He said the tariff increase for the country’s main airport may increase after the operation and maintenance of the airport is handed over to the private sector.

New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC), which was awarded the P170.6 billion concession to operate NAIA in February, will take over NAIA’s operations on September 14.

The interest rate increases relate to investments made by NNIC.

NNIC is the special purpose company established by the winning bidder of the 15-year concession agreement for the NAIA rehabilitation project: SMC SAP & Company Consortium, which consists of San Miguel Holdings Corp., RMM Asian Logistics, Inc.; RLW Aviation Development Inc. and Incheon International Airport Corp.

The changes in NAIA fees are formalized in an administrative order issued by airport regulator Manila International Airport Authority. Meanwhile, the AO is reviewed by a seven-member committee headed by the DoTr.
