Chelsea are not afraid to release first-team players this summer in a bid to make a big profit.

They have already made a lot of money from the sale of Ian Maatsen, who has permanently left for Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

Omari Hutchinson is a player they are likely to come across next season as well, having converted his previous successful loan to Ipswich Town into a permanent transfer.

While there will undoubtedly be regrets about selling these players, who will undoubtedly go on to become fine players wherever they end up, there are some who would much rather have them off their books.

One of them is undoubtedly Romelu Lukaku, whose nightmare at Chelsea has still not ended definitively to this day.

Last season he played on loan for Roma, where goals in all competitions were certainly not difficult.

The Belgian was described as a ‘world class player’ by Thomas Tuchel in his early years at Stamford Bridge, but that view is not shared by his supporters.

Romelu Lukaku has chosen to join Napoli

There is renewed hope that he could be sold this season, and reports from Italy may have given hope that this is possible.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Belgian has opted for a move to Napoli, where he will be reunited with former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte after their time at Internazionale.

The report further states that they are still waiting for Victor Osimhen to be sold before they can sign him as the market for the striker seems to be drying up at the moment.

Chelsea were one of the teams most thought to sign him for much of last season, but that is no longer the case.

It seems Napoli will have to lower their asking price to attract interest.
